Ask an average Nigerian what is the full meaning of the NFF, they are wont to tell you it is Nigeria Football Federation. Haba! You miss am if that is your answer too. Rather, it is Northern Football Federation (NFF). How? See the table below to appreciate what I mean.

The management of the NFF (whichever one you choose) is north. This is a direct affront on the Federal character principle. Before that, there is absolute criminality and illegality of the highest order therein. For how many years is the sitting Acting Secretary General, Musa Amadu, acting? His tenure was extended by the current Board which was to lapse after six months of the tenure of the Board but they kept mute and drove on as if all things are normal.

Were this setting to have been the case with other regions of the country, they would have protested to high heavens to have their quota on board. This discovery have shocked a lot of respected Nigerians we confronted with the facts. 

As usual, because many of them don’t want to be counted on such controversial issues like this, since they have a way of living on patronages from these same people, they offered not to talk. Ironically, some people said it openly that they know but resigned to fate because if they talk, what difference would it make?

So, please when next you are communicating and you hear the acronym, NFF, ask which one: Nigeria Football Federation or the Northern Football Federation. They mean the same thing.

Multi-billionaire Qatari wants to sponsor Liverpool

A director at Ooredoo (formerly Qatar Telecom), is quoted by Al Jazeera saying:

“The goal was to sponsor a big English club with a huge history, our search included Arsenal & Manchester United but the former two have long sponsorship deals and the same applies to Manchester City so Liverpool is the only club available right now.”

“We want to sponsor the club in full. We want to sponsor the Stadium (possibly rename it) as well as the club’s kits. Our goal is to reach the Asian markets where the Premier League has an enormous fan base.”

“We received the tender from the club a few days ago and we are currently in the process of due diligence and we are studying each aspect of the study.”

“It is a dual interest, Liverpool needs the money to compete with the European heavyweights and we want to expand our brand to reach new markets via football.”

Suarez has not appealed 10-match ban - ENGLISH FA

Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has not lodged an appeal against a 10-match ban for biting an opponent, England's Football Association (FA) governing body said on Friday.


Uruguay striker Suarez, 26, was suspended on Wednesday after he was shown to have bitten Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic on the arm last weekend.

The Anfield club had said they were shocked at the severity of the ban, which rules him out for the rest of the season and into the next, and had until 1100 GMT on Friday to lodge an appeal.
But the FA said on its website thefa.com: "Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has not appealed the suspension issued to him by an Independent Regulatory Commission this week.

"The suspension begins with immediate effect and applies to Liverpool FC's next ten domestic first-team fixtures."

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers had expressed dismay at the length of the ban and on Thursday slammed the FA for indicating ahead of the hearing that the suspension would top the statutory three matches, the organisation regarding that as "insufficient" on this occasion.
Rodgers said: "If you are an independent panel and yet the day beforehand the FA come out and say he (Suarez) will serve more than three games it is not independent because they are already putting pressure on the sanction.

"There is a prejudice there straightaway. Everyone has their opinion -- which is normal."
Suarez -- currently the Premier League second top scorer with 23 goals, one behind Manchester United's Robin Van Persie -- will miss the rest of this season and the first six games of next season.
He is reportedly considering whether to quit English football in protest at the severity of the punishment.
Liverpool have pointed out that previous instances of violent conduct were dealt with more leniently and they feel the FA has been inconsistent amid claims from Anfield that Suarez has paid the price for his controversial personality.

Rodgers referred to the 2006 cases of Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe, who escaped with just a booking for biting West Ham's Javier Mascherano, and Chester's Sean Hessey, who was banned for five matches for a bite on Stockport's Liam Dickinson.

"There have been two incidents of this type of scenario. One player received no ban and continued to be chosen by the FA as part of the England squad," Rodgers noted.

Suarez incurred a seven-game ban for biting PSV midfielder Otman Bakkal while playing for Ajax and also an eight-match suspension last season for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.
"It is the severity of the ban that has hurt most," Rodgers said on Thursday.

"I can't help but look at it and look at the sanction which has been put on Luis and I honestly feel the punishment has been against the man rather than the incident."

Mike Tyson backs Luis Suarez after biting Ivanovic

Former boxer Mike Tyson has offered his backing to Luis Suarez after the Liverpool forward bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

 

Suarez has been fined by his club and is expected to be handed a lengthy suspension following the incident, which took place during the 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Tyson also earned notoriety when he bit Evander Holyfield’s ear during a 1997 bout, and he told the Glenn David radio show in the US that he was confident Suarez would be able to put the controversy behind him.

“I saw this guy on the Twitter thing and thought I would check it out and see what his journey was all about,” Tyson said, having become one of the footballer’s followers on the social networking site.

“You know, he bit somebody, you know. S*** happens, you know what I mean? I’m sure he made amends with his guy. I made amends with Evander, and we go on with our lives.”

Suarez has already said that Ivanovic has accepted his apology over the incident, although there are suggestions that may not be the case.

Branislav Ivanovic does not wish to make a complaint after being bitten by Liverpool's Luis Suarez.

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has told police he does not wish to make a complaint after being bitten by Liverpool's Luis Suarez.

Ivanovic recoiled in agony when Uruguay striker Suarez bit him on the right arm during Sunday's 2-2 draw at Anfield.

But Suarez apologised to Ivanovic in a phone call on Sunday evening and the Serbia international was quick to play down the incident when asked if he wished to press charges following complaints to Merseyside Police.

"Following an incident at the Liverpool v Chelsea game yesterday officers have spoken to Branislav Ivanovic in person," Merseyside Police said in a statement on Monday.

"He had no apparent physical injuries and did not wish to make a complaint."

Suarez has been fined an unspecified amount by Liverpool, with the money to be donated to the Hillsborough Family Support Group

But the Football Association are reviewing the incident and Suarez is likely to be charged later on Monday and could face a lengthy ban.
